Residents of the newly built Harvest subdivision in O’Fallon are facing repeated gas heat and hot water outages, leaving families frustrated during the winter months. Multiple homeowners in the neighborhood have reported outages with some losing utilities up to five times since moving in. The subdivision, built by McBride Homes, has seen little action from the builder or Spire Gas, which attributes the problem to water entering the natural gas main—an issue complicated by freezing temperatures. Spire says crews are working diligently to locate and resolve the issue.
The O’Fallon City Council has reapproved the voluntary annexation of land for the 311-home Post Family Subdivision on over 103 acres at 1065 East Hwy. N, near the ongoing Harvest at Hopewell development. The move comes after St. Charles County challenged the initial annexation process, arguing the city used the wrong Missouri statute and failed to hold a required public hearing. Following the hearing on January 23, the council voted unanimously on February 13 to approve the annexation again. O’Fallon’s Planning and Development Director, David Woods, said the city disagrees with the county’s challenge but chose to redo the process to avoid conflict.
