A 43-year-old woman is in custody after allegedly shooting her girlfriend, an employee at the Tru by Hilton Hotel in St. Charles, early Friday morning. Police responded to the scene around 4 a.m. and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach in the hotel lobby. She was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities identified the suspect as Iretha Irving, who remained at the scene and was arrested. Police confirmed the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute between the two women. Irving has been charged with first-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action, with bond set at $100,000 cash-only.

Pride St. Charles is facing financial challenges after losing key sponsors, including its largest supporter, Procter & Gamble. The nonprofit is now launching a fundraising campaign to cover a $30,000 shortfall to try and have their event go on as planned in June. This follows a broader trend of corporate sponsorship shifts, including Anheuser-Busch’s recent withdrawal from Pride St. Louis, leaving organizers there with a $150,000 funding gap.

The Missouri House of Representatives is set to debate a $48 billion state budget proposal this week, which is $5 billion less than Governor Mike Kehoe’s request. Key differences include reductions in proposed pay raises for state workers, the removal of pay boosts for correctional officers in high-security areas, and the rejection of Kehoe’s $107 million childcare funding request. While the budget includes a record $3.8 billion for K-12 public education, it still underfunds the formula by $300 million. The House is expected to vote on the budget Thursday before sending it to the Senate for further review.
